Xiaomi Group founder and CEO Lei Jun said on February 10 that the first-generation Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle has fully stopped production, with total mass production deliveries exceeding 360,000 units. The final vehicle has already rolled off the production line and is being transported, and part of the factory is being modified to prepare for the next-generation SU7.
Lei spoke during a livestream from Xiaomi’s EV factory in Beijing Yizhuang. The factory received over 130,000 visitors in 2025 and aims to host 200,000 visitors in 2026. He described the factory as highly automated, with 600–700 robots enabling fully automated assembly and inspection, and noted the plant’s use of rooftop solar panels to supply part of its electricity.
Upgrades for the New SU7
The next-generation SU7, set to launch in April 2026, has been upgraded in multiple areas including the motor, battery, electronic-electrical architecture, high-voltage system and chassis. The door handles already meet updated national safety standards ahead of enforcement. Lei said these changes represent a full generational upgrade.
Xiaomi’s electronic and electrical system uses a self-developed four-in-one domain control module, initially deployed on the Xiaomi YU7, and Lei said the company’s smartphone expertise gives it an advantage in this area. Regarding battery compliance with new national standards, Xiaomi Vice President Li Xiaoshuang said the batteries not only meet but exceed new requirements, and Lei said the battery pack underwent over 1,000 tests, many beyond national standards.
Store Arrival and Service Plans
The next SU7 will start arriving in stores from February 13, 2026, with initial displays in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Wuhan. Xiaomi Auto will operate 275 service centers in 158 cities during the Spring Festival period, offering mechanical, electrical and mobile repair services.
Xiaomi Auto also launched a Spring Festival travel support program from February 9 to March 3, 2026, providing 24/7 free roadside assistance with no limits on method, number of times or distance. If a vehicle breaks down due to an internal fault, owners can get reimbursement for up to 1,500 yuan (~$216 USD) for one-way air or high-speed rail tickets and up to 500 yuan (~$72 USD) for accommodation, based on current exchange rates (1 CNY ≈ 0.144 USD).
Sales Performance and Targets
Xiaomi Auto reported January 2026 deliveries of over 39,000 vehicles, a 22 percent decline compared with more than 50,000 deliveries in December 2025. Lei said this was due to the SU7 model transition, with the YU7 as the main delivery model this month, and noted the next-generation SU7 will launch in April. Xiaomi’s 2026 sales target is 550,000 vehicles, compared with over 410,000 deliveries in 2025.
Lei also said that Xiaomi Auto became the top-selling new EV maker in January 2026, outperforming second-place Leapmotor. Pre-orders for the next SU7 have opened ahead of the expected April 2026 launch. Xiaomi Group shares closed at HK$35.58 on February 10, up 1.08 percent.
