Great Wall Motor’s Wei brand has revealed the exterior of its new flagship SUV, the Wei V9X. According to the company, the design follows “Eastern classical architectural aesthetics,” summarized by the phrase “simplicity with grandeur.”

Design and positioning

Official images show that the V9X has a roof mounted lidar sensor and a clean, simple front end. The overall style aims for the calm and premium feel typical of a large six seat SUV. A notable feature is a purple and gold two tone exterior color scheme focused on texture and visual depth.

The V9X has also appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing catalog. It is the first SUV built on Great Wall’s “Guiyuan” platform and is described as an “AI luxury six seat flagship SUV.” Great Wall chairman Wei Jianjun previously commented on the model, calling it a major symbol for Baoding, the company’s home city.
