On March 8, during the second “Representative Passage” interview session of the 14th National People’s Congress, He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPeng Motors and a national representative, shared his views on the future of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and how technological innovation is transforming the industry.

When asked about how NEV innovation will impact daily life, He Xiaopeng emphasized that technology is rapidly reshaping our world. Over the past 30 years, China has experienced significant breakthroughs in fields like the internet, mobile internet, and NEVs. Now, a new wave of AI-driven transformation is beginning.

He stated that AI will bring two major changes to the automotive industry:

  1. Accelerating Autonomous Driving:
In 2024, XPeng became the first to mass-produce and deliver end-to-end autonomous driving technology, enabling seamless travel from home parking to workplace parking. By 2025, XPeng aims to advance Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving, surpass global competitors, and introduce Level 4 (L4) self-parking by 2026, including fully unmanned valet parking and vehicle retrieval.
  2. The Integration of Cars and Robotics:
XPeng has been developing humanoid robots over the past five years, classifying them into L1-L5 levels, similar to autonomous driving. Currently, robots are at the early L2 stage, but by 2026, XPeng aims to launch commercial L3 humanoid robots capable of integrating hand, foot, mouth, eye, and brain functions for industrial applications.

With government support and industrial development, China’s low-altitude economy is advancing rapidly. XPeng plans to mass-produce modular flying cars, known as “Land Aircraft Carriers,” by 2026, potentially becoming the first company in China and globally to deliver commercial flying cars. The company is also developing an AI-powered control system to make piloting safer and more user-friendly.

He Xiaopeng envisions a multi-layered transportation system:

  • Autonomous cars within cities
  • Flying cars for intercity travel
  • Humanoid robots for last-mile logistics in factories and communities

He expressed gratitude for Guangdong’s support in fostering innovation, which helped XPeng grow despite challenges. His ultimate goal is to bring cutting-edge Chinese technology to the global market, allowing more people worldwide to experience the benefits of smart, autonomous, and AI-driven mobility solutions.
