Momenta is actively entering the autonomous truck market, building its own research and development team of several dozen people.
This is not Momenta’s first move into autonomous trucks. Over the past two years, the company has twice invested in Zero One Auto, which develops high-level autonomous driving systems for new-energy heavy trucks.
According to an informed source, “Part of the reason for investing in Zero One Auto is that Momenta can integrate its systems into their production trucks and verify whether the operational business model works. Based on real-world results, Momenta will plan its long-term autonomous truck strategy.”
Beyond autonomous trucks, since 2025 Momenta has also expanded into Robotaxi and autonomous delivery services. The company has partnered with Uber to provide Robotaxi services outside of China and the US.
Momenta’s main business remains passenger car driver-assistance solutions. It has collaborated with over 160 production vehicle models, establishing itself as a leading smart driving company in China. Expanding into new autonomous vehicle services was a natural extension of this core business.
Momenta has outlined a “flywheel” L4 strategy, aiming to use data from production models to continuously improve algorithms and automation, ultimately supporting both production-ready autonomous driving and fully driverless vehicles.
In 2025, Momenta co-founder and CEO Cao Xudong stated that the company’s technology focus had shifted from production-model flywheels to L4 flywheels, with the goal of achieving driverless Robotaxi operation by the end of 2025.
Overall, autonomous trucks, Robotaxi, and autonomous delivery represent the company’s technology focus shift, signaling a new stage of multi-business implementation in the coming years.
