In September 2025, BYD’s Tiger 7, under the Fangchengbao brand, was launched. Positioned as a “rugged exterior with family-friendly interior” SUV, it quickly broke the brand’s niche perception in the off-road market and achieved remarkable sales.

Within 80 days, Tiger 7 sold over 50,000 units, with 34,000 units in December alone, becoming the brand’s main sales driver. Its pricing at 179,800–219,800 RMB targets family users seeking a hardcore SUV style combined with practicality, filling a long-neglected market segment in the 200,000–250,000 RMB price range.

Tiger 7 complements the brand’s previous models—Leopard 5 and Leopard 8, focused on hardcore off-road enthusiasts, and Tiger 3, a compact city EV. This strategic positioning allowed Fangcheng Leopard to expand its user base from niche off-road enthusiasts to mainstream family SUV buyers, creating a new growth trajectory.

The SUV features a 4999mm length, 2920mm wheelbase, hybrid powertrain, and advanced technology such as full-view cameras, intelligent driving assist, and laser radar in the top trim. Its design balances rugged aesthetics, family usability, and affordability, leveraging BYD’s vertical integration for cost efficiency.

BYD Tiger 3 1

Tiger 7’s success drove Fangcheng Leopard’s 2025 annual sales to over 230,000 units, a 316% increase from 2024, while raising the average transaction price to 234,000 RMB, demonstrating both volume and value growth.

Analysts note Tiger 7 fills the “family-friendly rugged SUV” gap, offering better energy efficiency and lower costs than traditional hard SUVs while providing more personality than city SUVs. Its popularity is reshaping the 20,000–250,000 RMB SUV segment, pushing competitors to adopt rugged-yet-family-oriented designs.

BYD Tiger 4 1

Tiger 7 illustrates how accurate market targeting, strong product performance, and system-level support from BYD can transform a niche brand into a mainstream market player. Fangcheng Leopard plans to expand its lineup with sedans in 2026, signaling a move toward full-category brand development.
