International Air Transport Association (IATA)
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the global trade association representing and serving the airline industry. Founded on 19 April 1945 in Havana, Cuba as the successor to earlier airline cooperation bodies, it now represents over 360 member airlines from more than 120 countries, accounting for the majority of international air traffic. IATA develops industry standards and policies covering safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability, and offers services including operational safety audits, training programs, financial settlement systems, and global regulatory advocacy. Its headquarters are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with executive offices in Geneva, Switzerland and a network of regional offices worldwide.
