German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW)

The Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken e.V. (VDW) is the industry association representing the German machine tool sector. Founded in 1891 and based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the VDW advocates for its members — mainly machine tool manufacturers and technology providers — at national and international levels. It provides services in market analysis, trade fairs and symposia, technology standardization, and industry data. The association comprises around 300 primarily mid-tier companies that contribute a major share of the German machine tool industry’s output and turnover. Over its history, the VDW has organized major trade fairs such as EMO Hannover and NORTEC and supports member participation in global exhibitions.
