European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)

The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) is a non‑profit professional medical oncology association founded in 1975 and headquartered in Lugano, Switzerland. It represents tens of thousands of oncology professionals worldwide and is dedicated to advancing cancer care through education, research, clinical practice guidelines, scientific publications, and multidisciplinary collaboration. ESMO develops and disseminates evidence‑based oncology guidelines, supports professional training and certification, organizes congresses and scientific meetings, and publishes the Annals of Oncology journal. The society’s mission covers improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, supportive and palliative care, and promoting equitable access to optimal oncology care internationally.
