China Startup TARS Unveils Humanoid Robots Performing Precision Manufacturing Tasks
- Posted Monday, December 22, 2025
Chinese robotics startup TARS has unveiled two new humanoid robot prototypes that highlight its focus on advanced physical intelligence and precision applications such as wire harness assembly and embroidery, tasks that require fine motor control and dexterity.
TARS was founded in February 2025 and recently completed a $120 million angel funding round, one of the largest early-stage investments in China’s embodied intelligence sector, led by Lanchi Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners with support from several institutional investors.
The company is developing an integrated embodied AI system and robotics platform targeting smart manufacturing, intelligent logistics, and multi-scenario use cases, with plans to launch a first-generation embodied AI prototype later in 2025.
While humanoid robots remain largely in demonstration or pilot phases across the industry, China’s broader robotics ecosystem is expanding rapidly, with domestic sales expected to rise sharply in 2025 and government support accelerating adoption in manufacturing, retail, and services.
China’s humanoid robot ecosystem is rapidly expanding, driven by national strategic priorities and venture capital investment. Leading companies range from established robotics innovators to fast-growing startups. While...
