China’s first regular low altitude drone logistics route crossing a sea strait has officially begun operation. According to SF Group, the opening ceremony titled “Supporting the Free Trade Port and Building a New Chapter in Low Altitude Logistics” was held on December 1 at the Xichenghui Logistics Center in Haikou, Hainan. This marks the beginning of sustained drone based logistics transportation across the Qiongzhou Strait.

As the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port advances, the Qiongzhou Strait remains a vital passage connecting the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area with Hainan. Logistics efficiency across this corridor is critically important. The newly launched route connecting Haikou Xiuying and Xuwen in Guangdong officially began regular operation on December 1 at 11 o’clock.

During the ceremony, the Fengzhou 90 drone carrying simulated emergency supplies took off from Xiuying District and reached Xuwen on the opposite shore in only nineteen minutes. The flight achieved a rapid cross strait breakthrough. Compared with the traditional combination of land transport and sea transport, the new route saves nearly five hours and moves logistics across the Qiongzhou Strait from the hour level into the minute level.

The regular operation of this route relies on the Fengzhou 90 drone developed by Fengyi Technology. Announcements indicate that this model supports an effective payload of twenty kilograms and a full load range of seventy kilometers. It can handle complex cross sea conditions and provides a new logistics solution for high time sensitivity goods including fresh food cold chain items, emergency medicines, high value documents and urgent supplies.
