Xu Jiang

Xu Jiang is a Professor and the Chairman of the Academic Committee at the China Academy of Art, as well as a Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He is the President of the China Oil Painting Society and the Chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles. He served as a National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) during the 13th and 14th sessions.

Xu graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the China Academy of Art in the early 1980s, and later studied at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts in Germany. From 2001 to 2020, he served as the President of the China Academy of Art. Xu Jiang has received numerous honors, including National Art Worker and Zhejiang Province “Special Expert” recognition. His awards include the Lu Xun Art Prize, the Second Beijing Biennale Award, and the National Teaching Achievement Award.

A leader in expressive Chinese painting, Xu’s works have been featured at prestigious international exhibitions such as the Venice Architecture Biennale, São Paulo International Art Biennale, and Shanghai Biennale. His renowned “Sunflower Garden” series has been exhibited in major museums worldwide, including the China National Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, and Dresden State Museum. His works have been collected by numerous international art institutions.
