China Association of Metros
The China Association of Metros (CAMET, 中国城市轨道交通协会) is a registered social organization with legal entity status under the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. It is a national, industry-specific, non-profit organization and the sole national-level industry association for China’s urban rail transit sector. Founded in 2011, it was approved by the State Council and is supervised by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Civil Affairs, with additional business guidance from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The association’s membership exceeds 1,000 organizations, spanning the full urban rail transit value chain including planning and design, construction, operations management, equipment manufacturing, and resource management, as well as research institutes and universities. Camet + 2 CAMET’s core functions include: conducting policy research and advisory services for government and industry on planning, investment, construction, operations, and safety in urban rail transit; formulating and enforcing industry codes of conduct; publishing industry statistics and periodic analytical reports; developing and administering a system of group standards (T/CAMET standards) and participating in national and sector-standard development; operating equipment certification programs; organizing industry training and professional title evaluation; hosting exhibitions, forums, and international exchanges; and supporting member organizations in adopting international technologies and expanding overseas. The association’s stated mission is to comply with regulations, exercise self-discipline, serve as a bridge between government and enterprises, and promote the scientific development of the industry. CAMET is headquartered in Xicheng District, Beijing, and maintains technical bodies, branch institutions, and an affiliated yearbook editorial office in Shanghai, making it the central coordinating platform for all aspects of China’s urban rail transit industry at the national level.
