The Second International Humanoid Robot Forum was held from February 19 to 20 at the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne in Switzerland, according to Xinhua News Agency. Representatives from research institutions, enterprises, and investment organizations across multiple countries discussed industrialization of humanoid robots and the development of embodied intelligence, examining future application trends.
Forum Chairman and President of the Swiss Cobotics Competence Center, Dominic Gorecky, stated in his opening remarks that humanoid robots are at a critical stage, transitioning from laboratory research to industrial application. Cross industry collaboration will be essential for translating technological advances into real world deployment.
During keynote sessions, Zhang Jianwei, Director of the Institute of Multimodal Technologies at the University of Hamburg, emphasized that future breakthroughs in robotics will not rely solely on mechanical structures or single algorithms. Instead, progress will depend on integrating multimodal perception with cognitive control systems. He identified three core capabilities for next generation intelligent robots: environmental understanding, collaborative decision making, and autonomous execution. These capabilities will define competitive advantage and enable large scale application.
In the exhibition area, multiple embodied intelligent devices demonstrated walking, object grasping, and human machine interaction. Chinese robotics companies including Unitree Robotics, UBTECH Robotics, and DeepRobotics presented high precision robotic manipulation and industrial collaboration solutions. The forum also featured startup roadshows and roundtable discussions focused on business models, industrial deployment, and the future of work in the humanoid robotics sector.
