The Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, a key 2009 project by the Hainan Provincial and Haikou Municipal governments, is a multifunctional complex integrating convention, exhibition, hotel, leisure, commercial, and residential spaces. Developed by Shenzhen Tianli Real Estate Group with a 1.38 billion RMB investment, it spans 136,200 square meters and was designed by Li Xinggang, the architect behind the Beijing Olympics “Bird’s Nest.” The facility includes a 77,000-square-meter exhibition center with three halls, a 4,800-square-meter opening ceremony hall (capacity: 6,000 people), and space for 2,320 standard booths, plus a 42,000-square-meter convention center. Its wave-like roof reflects tropical coastal themes. With a 25,000-square-meter outdoor area and international-standard amenities like customs warehouses and dining options, it aims to transform Hainan’s exhibition landscape, boost Haikou’s modern service industry, and serve as a prestigious “city card” for hosting global events.
