Dalian World Expo Center is a major exhibition and convention center located in the Xinghai Bay Financial Business District, one of Dalian’s key open economic zones. It is near the Xinghai Square, the largest seaside square in Asia, with convenient transportation links—5 km from Dalian Railway Station, 8 km from Dalian Port, 10 km from Dalian International Airport, and 12 km from the Shenyang-Dalian Expressway entrance. The venue incorporates advanced technology, including a seawater cooling system, automated fire suppression, a dedicated drainage system, and smart security monitoring. It features 3,500 information points, 1,000 voice points, and wireless coverage. The total building area is 142,000 square meters, with a net exhibition space of 50,000 square meters in Phase I and 10,000 square meters in Phase II, providing a combined 3,000 international-standard exhibition booths. Since its opening in 2005, the plaza has hosted 243 exhibitions covering a total exhibition area of 2.77 million square meters, including major events like the China International Medical Equipment Fair and the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo. By 2009, it had also hosted 1,170 conferences, including the 2007 “Summer Davos” World Economic Forum attended by global leaders. The facility includes various meeting rooms, with capacities ranging from 16 to 1,000 people, a banquet hall for 1,000 guests, and a multifunctional hall of 5,766 square meters, accommodating up to 3,500 attendees for conferences and large events.
